Best Man Speaking Reviews

This story mixed all other romcoms topics such as best friend´s brother, love to hate, high school exes, and second chances in a heartfelt, entertaining, sexy and romantic way.

Hallie Cairns is the only daughter of two toxic and selfish parents who couldn’t care less about their daughter unless there was a social event. Thankfully for her, she had a support system in her paternal grandmother, her best friend, Jules, and his brother, Marcus, who ended up being the love of her life or so she thought. Never in her right mind, Hallie would think that on her grandmother’s funeral she would not only lose her only parental figure, but also her boyfriend. The only connection to her past left was Jules, so they kept in touch during years, specially after he fell in love with Hallie´s college best friend, Erica, after a brief introduction early on. Obviously, when Erica and Jules decided to get married, the best man and Jules’ only brother Marcus and Hallie, the maid of honor were force to make an alliance in order to help arrange and celebrate the marriage of their favorite two people in the world.

People say there is a fine line between love and hate, whether they have a HEA or not gets only more complicate it as the story continue.

I honestly shouldn’t be so thrill about this book because, objectively, there were too many sex scenes that could have been omitted or exchange for more important background story for the main characters during their time apart for instance. But…. there is always a BUT, I loved the story and at the end I was rooting for their HEA even if retrospectively, the way they got together after so much heartbreak is fiction at its maximum expression.”

What People Are Saying

“I know everyone has a different interpretation of what home means to them, of what it looks like and feels like, be it a place or people. I just want you to remember you don’t need to live at home. Sometimes it can be enough to know where it is—to simply visit and let yourself rest in the place your heart resides for a little while……”

A second-chance romance between Hallie, who left town after getting hurt by the people around her, and Marcus, her best friend’s older brother who broke her heart on the worst way possible given her circumstances. As the maid of honor and best man for Julian and Erica’s upcoming wedding, they’re forced behave around each other’s presence.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The banters between H and M are to die for. They’re both snarky and entertaining and reading them exchange words didn’t get too old or feel forced. I also love that both characters have enough maturity in acknowledging what they’re feeling, so their story wasn’t unnecessarily dragged out. Also, the spice? Divine 🥵” — Alcreads, Goodreads

“This book was such a pleasant surprise! At the beginning, I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about Hallie and Marcus or their story despite my initial interest based on the synopsis. I was quickly swept into them and their past and what could be their future. This book automatically gave me 10 Things I Hate About You vibes due to their banter, and that’s honestly what initially sold me on their chemistry. While I think their past could’ve been explored just a bit more, I think it was effective enough to establish the love and hurt that both endured from it. My one true issue with the book is the third act conflict. I didn’t feel that it was as strong as it could’ve been, and I think it could’ve lasted just a bit longer. Maybe? I am not a big fan of scenarios like that one so maybe that’s another reason I didn’t really buy into it because I felt that it was easily solvable, but it does make sense that it would create an environment full of impulsive thoughts and feelings. In the end, I loved so much of this book, and I honestly loved Marcus throughout despite his inability to speak out his truth. When it comes to Hallie, she was so similar to me in so many ways that I couldn't help but love and root for her. Overall, I loved this book (even including the sex scenes which is rare for me), and I think there’s time for me to continue thinking on it and making this a true five star read, but for now I think 4 is a good rating.”

I loved this story between Hallie and Marcus, it was full of laughter, good banter, and a lot of heartbreaking tears.

I loved how the two of them had to figure out how to work together for her best friends' and his brother's wedding while navigating their present day connection and reconciling the past hurts.

This was brilliantly written and I loved how everything came together. I'm looking forward to more from this author in the future!

“This book was such a fun read! Best Man Speaking is a friends-to-lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers rollercoaster that keeps you hooked from the first page. The chemistry between Hallie and Marcus is electric, and their banter is the kind that makes you want to grab popcorn and settle in for the show! Jessie Elizabeth does a fantastic job of balancing humor, heartache, and the slow, delicious burn of rekindled romance.

Hallie is a fiery, no-nonsense heroine who isn’t afraid to throw verbal jabs, and Marcus is the sometimes charming, always infuriating ex who knows exactly how to push her buttons. Their dynamic is equal parts frustrating and fun, making for a read that’s impossible to put down. The tension, the teasing, and the undeniable sparks will have you hooked!

Beyond the romance, Best Man Speaking captures the bittersweet emotions of returning home, facing past wounds, and figuring out what (or who) truly feels like home. It’s the perfect mix of angst and humor, making it a breezy but still satisfying read!

If you love easy-to-devour romance reads with witty dialogue, undeniable chemistry, and a touch of wedding drama, Best Man Speaking should be next on your TBR. It’s the perfect book to curl up with when you need a feel-good, fun, story that does not hold back on the spice!”
